Supporting Ms. Akila During a Difficult Time
At Believe Humanity, we continue to stand beside individuals who face unexpected challenges in life.
Recently, we came across the situation of Ms. Akila, who met with a serious accident while returning home from work. She works as a maid, and her husband is a driver. They have a young child studying in the 4th standard at a private matriculation school.
This sudden and unfortunate incident has deeply affected their family. Ms. Akila sustained severe injuries to both her legs and has undergone multiple surgeries. Doctors have advised a long recovery period, and she is expected to be on bed rest for at least a year.
She is currently receiving treatment at RS Hospital, where we personally visited her and spoke with the family to understand their situation.
Financial Situation and Support
During our discussion, we learned that Ms. Akila requires an additional surgery costing approximately Rs. 60,000. Her husband is trying to arrange this amount through support from relatives, but the situation remains very challenging.
Initially, we planned to support the family by providing groceries for one or two months using the remaining balance from the Wayanad fund. However, considering the urgency of the medical requirement, we decided to prioritize immediate medical assistance.
As a first step, we contributed Rs. 10,000 towards her treatment to support the upcoming surgery.
Moving Forward
During our conversation, her husband shared his determination to overcome this difficult phase despite financial pressure. His strength and positive outlook gave us hope.
We sincerely wish Ms. Akila a speedy recovery and hope she will be discharged soon. If required, we remain committed to extending further support in the future, including assistance for their child’s education and essential needs such as groceries.
